“After more than a month of constant campaign pressure from Democratic Candidate Ryan Sanders, Rep. Platts crossed party lines to vote in support of the Democratic unemployment extension bill yesterday after initially voting against it.
His vote came after passage of the bill in the Senate the day before, and with overwhelming Democratic support for the bill in the House. So his vote means virtually nothing in terms of outcome.
‘Glad to have Mr. Platts finally join the Democratic Party on the second vote for this much needed extension of benefits to folks in need in Adams, Cumberland, and York Counties — it’s too bad he didn’t cross the aisle on the many, many votes under the Bush administration that created our nation’s biggest deficit and highest unemployment since 2000.’ Sanders said today. ‘We should remember that 98% of Americans paid fewer taxes this year than in any single year of the Bush-Cheney-Platts era….’”
